Founded in 1948 Christchurch Archery Club is located in Christchurch, the Garden City of New Zealand. We are run on a voluntary basis with club members running an elected committee. Since the Club's inception, several junior and senior members have regularly competed in both National and International archery tournaments. Consequently, the Club proudly boasts past and present Champions and record holders in several disciplines.
We cater for all abilities and different styles of archery including recurve, barebow and compound and beginner's courses are held regularly throughout the year, with the emphasis on fun and enjoyment. The summer shooting season commences on the last week of September each year and continues through to the last weekend of April approximately.
A shooting programme is determined at the beginning of the season and provides details of the club rounds, postal league shoots and upcoming tournaments.Christchurch Archery Club events are held each Saturday afternoon with scoring rounds commencing at 1:00pm unless otherwise stated in our programme.

| Kyudo
Kyudo, the way of the Bow, is one of the ancient martial arts of Japan. Kyudo is not merely shooting an arrow at a target. It is a way of life, a journey of pursuing the truth, the goodness and the beauty in life. Unlike western archery, Kyudo is not a competitive sport against others. The competition is with your inner self to harness the mind and to master the technique. Kyudo is one of the most prestigious and respected martial art forms in Japan and around the world, practiced by many as a method of physical, moral and spiritual development.
Kyudo is an excellent way to achieve physical, mental and spiritual well-being. It helps to improve mind-body coordination, posture, balance, muscle tone and general physical fitness. Even more importantly Kyudo provides you a sense of joy and a feeling of accomplishment. It shows you the way to mindfulness.
Christchurch Kyudo Club have sessions at Wharenui spot Center in Riccarton every Sunday from 12.00 to 15.00.
